Update: Kenneth Tse Resigns as Girls Swim Coach at El Toro High, Interim Named

After guiding Chargers to two Sea View League titles in two years, he leaves post, citing "philosophical differences with the administration."

Updated Feb. 14: Dan Bode, assistant principal at El Toro in charge of athletics, confirmed Kenneth Tse's resignation, in an e-mail, citing "personal reasons." He added that Jeff Grosse has been named interim girls swim coach and has been named the interim boys swim coach.

Tse replaced Grosse when he resigned after taking on additional responsibilities at the school, including becoming the chairman of the science department. Grosse had been a coach in the school's aquatics program for more than 30 years.

Bode added: "The position is advertised and a permanent replacement is  expected to be named immediately at the conclusion of the interview process."

Julson is an El Toro alum who replaced Matt Tilton as the Chargers' girls water polo before the start of the present season.

His resignation comes less than four months after Matt Tilton was removed as the Chargers' boys swim coach and girls water polo coach. Tilton had been a varsity swim coach at the school since 2000 and took over the girls water polo team after the 2007-08 season.

Both alumni of El Toro, Tse and Tilton remain at the school as teachers in the science department.
