Recently there was a project for replace the old gas lines in the streets.
When doing this, the company hired by the gas company had to tear up the streets, and also drill sideways for the new lines.

Doing this resulted in some buckling of the street surface. sometimes up to 3 inches upward resulting in more cracks.
As the summer heat began kicking in, and the street has been expanding and contracting , the streets have began to become even worse with more cracks appearing and pieces breaking off daily.

Doing a slurry coat is more of like a paint job, It just covers a very thin layer of the surface.
The cracks and continual breaking of the assault will show up within days of the slurry coat being applied. .
This will be the 4th time I know of that the city of Lake Forest has slurry coated the streets in my area. The existing cracks just reappeared a few days later.
The streets have gained enough thickness that someone could sprain their ankle there the asphalt meets the curb gutter, where the height difference can be up to an inch different.
I would not even go into not removing weeds or filling in cracks in the street. EXCEPT that I thought the city had some rules on those. Is the city responsible for weeds growing IN THE STREET? I thought the city stated if a crack in the street was greater than 1/4 inch it was supposed to be filled in prior to being slurry coated. Exactly how bad do the streets have to be for the city to properly grind down and resurface the streets needing it?
This is a video I had made walking around the streets with cracks. There were a lot more streets I did not video, I could have continued walking for a couple of hours but this was sufficient to show.
The 2nd video is after the city reconsidered to fill in the cracks ( somewhat) Still missing a lot of spots / gaps / holes.
The videos speak for themselves. Exactly how cracked / shattered does a street have to be to be properly redone? The structural integrity is very compromised . after a thin layer is applied, the shattered parts will emerge within days as cracks again. when it rains then water will penetrate with more movement as vehicles driven over the broken road.
There is even a street with a sink hole that keeps reappearing and the solution is to just pour cement into it each time. I always wonder where the soil keeps disappearing to. I have reported the sink hole multiple times since I have lived here but the mystery still persists. Makes me nervous when I drive near it.
I have created a video ( AND later an UPDATED video) which I uploaded to youTube but since it is 17GB and I have the Cox Monopolies cable service, it is going to take most of the day to upload it.
I did include a link below, Refresh every so often until it works.
Bummer the city lacked the forethought to have alternative services like google fiber installed while the streets were torn up. I would have been paying $70 for 1 gig speed instead of $70 for 15 meg speed ( 0.015 gig ) I get now. . That shows the value of the Cox monopoly . The video would have been uploaded to Youtube in 5 minutes instead of a day or more
