Lake Forest House Fire: Cat Saved

Hear sirens this morning or smell smoke? An early morning house fire woke a Lake Forest neighborhood, Saturday.

LAKE FOREST, CA - A fire errupted on the second storey of a Lake Forest home at approximately 6 a.m. on Saturday morning, according to officials.

Orange County Fire Authority responded to the scene OCFA at the 25600 block of Ashby Way, with a residential fire on the second floor, OCFA Capt. Larry Kurtz said.

By 6:15 a.m. firefighters were "getting good knockdown on the fire," Kurtz said.

The reported damage to the residence was approximately $300,000 to the structure and $75,000 in contents.

"Firefighters rescued Roxy the cat and saved lots of furniture and property by using salvage covers," Kurtz told Patch.

The fire started around 5:35am and was under control in less than 40 minutes. No injuries were reported and no one was home when fire started, according to Kurtz.
