Lake Forest Man ID'd In Irvine Fatal Crash

Irvine police identified a 69-year-old bicyclist who they say was killed in a crash involving a stopped truck.

IRVINE, CA — The Irvine Police Department Wednesday identified a 69-year-old bicyclist who they say was killed in a crash involving a stopped truck.

The crash was reported at 7:25 a.m. Tuesday on Alton Parkway near Technology Drive. According to reports, the man died at the scene.

He was later identified Wednesday as James Henry McKane, of Lake Forest.

"Preliminarily, it appears [a] truck was stopped at the side of the road while workers were performing landscaping duties when the bicyclist collided with the back of the truck," Irvine police said in a statement.

The driver of the truck cooperated with investigators, police said, and neither drugs or alcohol were thought to be a factor in the crash.

Traffic was routed away from the area while an investigation was conducted.
