Lake Forest Recall a waste of money with election in one year.

As the orange county editioral staff and many others have stated , the recall is a waste of taxpayers money.

The reasoning behind the recall is sketchy at best.

The statments of fact are vague, or not reasons to waste money on a recall.

The signature gatherers many residents found outside stores or knocking at their doors, were PAID $5 to $10 per signature . Most if not all were not from Lake Forest. One of them I spoke to was from Long beach. But all acted like they were very concerned citizens for the political well being of our city. I did screen prints of over 16 craigslist ads for lake forest signature gathers. One ad was interesting, they only wanted people from Santa Ana to collect signatures in Lake Forest that was strange to me.

The signature gathers were given copies of the voter registration lists contining all addresses (sorted by street) of registered voters. They knew how many registered voters lived at each location. I am doubtful the signature gathers were entirely honest when speaking to people to get signatures. At $5 to $10 per signature they collect do you expect the truth is required to get a signature?

They ended up getting a little more then 16,000 signatures out ot the 44,000 registered voters. At $5 per signature estimate , that amounts to $80,000 just in costs at low end of just the paid signature gather part not counting other overhead costs.

Yet someONE who is behind the recall was able to toss by my guess over $100,000 to pay for this in the Nick of time.

The notable excuses used were

"Second highest user of taxpayer money for trips, ...."

My question when I read this who was First? Why are you not after them?

Poorest record for offering new ideas

That is a recall reason if I never saw one. When I read that excuse I laugh a little. Seriously think about that reason. You could come up with 10 great ideas but are recalled because they wanted 50 lame ones. They being the people who want to gain control of the city of Lake Forest.

"Worst attentendence at city events"

What city events? Some store opening? Are councilmembers required to attend evey store opening? I really doubt that.

" Complained about residents"

Was this reason just an excuse to fillup the page on reasons to recall?

" for supporting documentation for all these claims (dates, times, amounts, etc"

I went to their site, and all I saw was rehashing of the same excuses. With no "documentation" anywhere.

I wonder how much the few people behind the multiple recall attempts have spent. I wonder how much money they expect to recover when THEY take control.
