Lake Forest Traffic Affected by Irvine Spectrum Area Fire
A wildfire and subsequent road closure on the 133 Southbound at Lake Forest caused traffic affects Monday with road closed until 6 p.m.

LAKE FOREST, CA — A 20-acre brush fire near the Irvine Spectrum Center forced a full closure of Route 133 for a time today before crews got the flames under control. Now, follow-up investigation could take as long as six hours, leading into evening commutes. CHP advises drivers take alternate routes.
The blaze, which did not threaten any structures, blackened acreage just south of the shopping center, about a half-mile south of Lake Forest Drive, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Agustin Latosquin.
The fire was contained about 11 a.m., according to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Larry Kurtz, who said three helicopters and two fix-winged aircraft were involved in the firefighting effort. The flames did threaten some high-tension power lines but never affected them, he said.

The Laguna Beach 133 southbound at Laguna Canyon Road remained closed at noon. The OCFA stated its follow-up investigation could last as long as six hours, which will take drivers through evening commute time, according to Latosquin.
"Southbound 133 at Lake Forest remains closed, and CHP is forcing commuters to take a left turn on Lake Forest or a U-turn back on the 405," he said.

The road is closed due to fire suppression efforts and investigation, according to Kurtz. Firefighters worked to create a 50-100 foot-wide perimeter around the burned area and are watching power lines to ensure they do not become involved in this incident.
