Leah Basile To Leave Lake Forest City Council

Lake Forest Councilwoman Leah Basile announced at the recent city council meeting that she would step down from her seat.

LAKE FOREST, CA - At Tuesday's City Council Meeting, Lake Forest Councilwoman Leah Basile announced that she would step down from her seat, due to her family relocating.

"She indicated her last day would be August 31, " a city of Lake Forest spokesperson said.
There's no indication yet how the Council will fill her seat, or if the city will hold a special election.

Basile is a native Californian and moved to Foothill Ranch in 1997. She has lived in different locations within Lake Forest over the past 20 years, and currently resides in Portola Hills, according to the city of Lake Forest website.

"In her first year on the City Council, Leah worked with hundreds of residents on various issues, and was instrumental in revitalizing discussions between the City and the Lake 1 HOA to work toward mediation of their lawsuit," the city stated.

She has worked with Bella Palermo HOA to find parking solutions within their community, and worked with the County to prevent an unsightly fence being erected around a local riverbed. She has attended dozens of grand openings, community events, and workshops around the City.

"Leah's presence on the City Council has helped to foster better cooperation among Council members, and has made Council meetings much more cohesive," the city said

Although her district covers primarily Foothill Ranch and Portola Hills, Basile has been actively involved in assisting residents throughout the entire city during her time on the council.
