Music Festival Triggers Road Closures In OC: What To Know

IRVINE, CA — Irvine City officials announced plans for Great Park closures in anticipation of the first-ever Daisy Chain Fields Music Festival taking place Sunday.

"We don't do this often, but when Olivia Rodrigo comes to town, it's kind of a big deal," the City of Irvine said in a statement.

The closures will last through Saturday, Aug. 29, and impact the Carousel, Balloon, Visitors Center, Wild Rivers, Great Park Ice & FivePoint Arena.

Road closures in preparation for the festival will start 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28 and last through 8 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 30.

According to the city, the following roads will be closed Friday through Sunday:

• Marine Way from Ridge Valley to Skyhawk.
• Skyhawk from Marine Way to Great Park Boulevard.

From 6 a.m. Saturday to 1 a.m. Sunday, the following roads will be closed:

• Marine Way from Sand Canyon Avenue to Ridge Valley.
• Bosque from Great Park Boulevard to Hornet.

The first-ever Daisy Chain Field Music Festival features an all-female star-studded list of headliners, including Stevie Nicks, Chappell Roan and Sarah Mclachlan.

The festival, founded by Grammy-winning artist Olivia Rodrigo, benefits a slew of nonprofit organizations in Southern California.

"Truly never felt more excited to share a piece of news with you all. I've had a dream of doing this festival for years and i am so ecstatic its finally coming true!!" Rodrigo posted on social media.

"Daisy Chain Fields features an all-women lineup and 100 percent of the net proceeds will go to charities dedicated to advancing and advocating for women and girls. The lineup is truly insane and full of my heroes and friends. I firmly believe that joy, community, and music can be the drivers of meaningful change and I'm hopeful this festival will be just that. I absolutely cannot wait to scream and dance and sing with you guys August 29th!!!!"

Proceeds from the festival will benefit organizations Baby2Baby, Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Center for Reproductive Rights, FreeFrom, Jhpiego, Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health, National Domestic Workers Alliance, National Institute for Reproductive Health, National Women's Law Center, and Planned Parenthood.

Earlier this year, Great Park Live announced that it had increased the capacity of its venue to 10,000 guests. The festival will use multiple areas of the facility, including Great Park Live, the city-owned amphitheater operated by PSQ Productions, along with additional park space where the festival's main stage will be built to support an expanded capacity of up to 45,000 fans.
