Noise Advisory: Lake Forest Residents May Hear Booms, Explosions
Camp Pendleton issued a noise advisory alert through Feb. 11. Expect big bangs in the Lake Forest area starting Friday.
LAKE FOREST, CA — Residents of Lake Forest and communities around Camp Pendleton are likely to hear the occasional earth rattling boom through Feb. 11.
From Friday to Feb. 11, Camp Pendleton Marines have scheduled training with high-power explosives that may be heard up to 50 miles away, depending on atmospheric conditions. A noise advisory was issued by Camp Pendleton for the duration of the base's training.
The training takes place in Camp Pendleton's Whiskey and Zulu Impact Area. In Lake Forest, Camp Pendleton's Whiskey and Zulu Impact Areas are roughly 43 miles away.
