OC Firefighters Battle Fire At Massive Apartment Complex
Orange County Fire Authority and Tustin firefighters worked to keep a carport blaze from reaching the Castilian & Cordova apartment homes.

TUSTIN, CA — A fire damaged a carport and several vehicles in an apartment complex in Tustin Thursday morning but was extinguished before it could spread to residential units.
Orange County Fire Authority crews arrived at the Castilian Cordova Apartment Homes at 14300 Newport Avenue at 4:45 a.m. where a carport fire was spreading into the massive complex.
At least nine vehicles and the carport smoldering.

No injuries were immediately reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation.

Northbound lanes on Newport between McFadden and Mitchell was expected to be shut down until at least 9 a.m. due to cleanup and investigation into the cause of the fire, authorities said.

As of 7:30 a.m., the majority of apartment residents were allowed back into their homes.
No firefighters or residents were injured during the fire, officials say.
