OCSD Officers Conduct Active Shooter Training In Lake Forest
It's virtual reality meshed with live-action components. This week OCSD deputies train for school shooting scenarios in a safe space.

LAKE FOREST, CA — Officers of the Orange County Sheriff's Department will pause their work on Friday to train for active shooter scenarios in Lake Forest. The program known as Assess, Prepare, Train--or APT--is a half-day adrenaline soaked scenario that deputies train for and pray they will never need to use in real life.
Officers will combine live-action components with a realistic virtual reality screens and a 180-degree simulator to engage them in multiple active shooter scenarios, the OCSD spokesperson said.
The scenes, sounds and practice is designed to be a sensory-stimulating experience. Officers will hear blaring alarms, students creaming as well as victims pleading for help.
