IRVINE, CA — A woman in desperate need of help after her wallet was stolen from a South Orange County Costco received just that, thanks to a quick-thinking officer with the Irvine Police Department.

According to a social media post written by the department, an officer was patrolling the Irvine Spectrum Center this week when he received a report regarding a woman who had her wallet stolen from her purse at a nearby Costco.

"Knowing criminals like to go shopping with other people's money, the officer proactively called the victim and asked her to monitor her credit card activity and to let him know if her credit card was used," the statement read. "Minutes later she said her card was used at the Nordstrom at Irvine Spectrum."
