Orange County Firefighters Honor Fallen Captain With Procession

The procession honored Capt. Rob Culp, who died after dedicating 25 years of his life to serving and protecting his communities.

LAKE FOREST, CA — Orange County firefighters honored one of their own on Tuesday, after a funeral procession was observed across the county for OC Firefighter Captain/Paramedic Rob Culp, who died this week after faithfully serving and protecting his communities for 25 years.

Culp was reported dead Tuesday by the OCFA after 16 years with the department. In his honor, OC Firefighters observed a freeway funeral procession for Culp Tuesday afternoon.

"Units from the OCFA escorted Fire Captain/Paramedic Rob Culp from UCI Medical Center to the mortuary this afternoon," an OCFA spokesperson said. "It gives family and everyone at the OCFA great comfort to see the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time."

According to the OCFA, Culp dedicated service to the National City Fire Department, Carlsbad Fire Department and Orange County Fire Authority over the past 25 years.

He leaves behind a lasting legacy of courage, commitment and care in the communities he served.

During his 16 years with the Orange County Fire Authority, Culp served as Firefighter Paramedic, Fire Apparatus Engineer, Fire Captain/Paramedic and was a member of the Technical Rescue Team and FEMA CA-Task Force 5.

His final assignment was Fire Station 27 in Irvine, the OCFA said.

Culp's cause of death was not released.
