PHOTOS: Rides, Games Delight at Lake Forest Elementary Carnival

The annual carnival marked the school's 20th year of educating Lake Forest children.

Families filled the field abutting Lake Forest Elementary School on Friday afternoon for the school's annual carnival.

Organizers said that there were approximately 1,200 attendees, about 200 more .

The celebration marked the school's 20th anniversary, a milestone that its students, teachers and staff have been celebrating throughout the year with school spirit days, a special commemorative children's T-shirt and by highlighting the staff who have been with the school since its inception.

Live music, food, carnival rides and games gave the event a festive atmosphere.

To give the fair an extra carnival-like vibe, organizers added an extra ride and two additional food vendors along with the Kona Ice Truck, cotton candy, and snack booths, said Christy Ortiz, carnival chairwoman.

Lake Forest's mascot Nectar made an appearance, and the city hosted a game booth, she said.
