I toured the construction area in Portola Hills with the City’s Chief Engineer and Director of Public Works. The construction is proceeding on schedule and the new 5 acre city park will be opened by the end of 2018.
A schematic picture of the park accompanies this article. The park will consists of a 1+ acre dog park at the lower end, with a sports field, pickleball courts, and other amenities on the upper end. There will be two ways in/out of the park.
Across the street from the park there will be a mixed use business area.

In the first photo, Tom Wheeler and I are standing in the middle of the future park. We're pointing at a drain that will mark the bottom of the park. The land beyond the drain will be the dog park.
In the next picture we're looking East from the middle of the par k to the mixed business use area.
