'Prolific Mail Thief' Who Targeted South OC Mailboxes Arrested

IRVINE, CA — A "prolific mail thief" was arrested June 28 on suspicion of burglary and identity theft throughout the City of Irvine, the Orange County Register reported.

While the 33-year-old suspect's name was not released by police, he was described as an Anaheim man who authorities believe works in construction.

Police found thousands of pieces of stolen mail from the suspect's home, after authorities served a search warrant at the suspect's girlfriend's residence, according to the report.

A list of Irvine neighborhoods targeted was not immediately available due to the volume of evidence recovered, the newspaper reported.

As a part of the ongoing investigation, Irvine Police detectives are working alongside U.S. Postal Service workers to identify victims and other possible crimes.
