IRVINE, CA — Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is Orange County-bound this weekend, the Orange County Register reported.
The New York congresswoman is scheduled to speak at University of California, Irvine, on Sunday in an effort to reach young voters and urge them to vote in the upcoming midterm elections, according to the report.
“This high turnout must continue for Democrats to keep control of Congress and to win state races around the country – where choice, climate, and justice are on the ballot,” said a release teasing the event.

The Irvine visit follows President Joe Biden's visit to Irvine Valley College last week, where he discussed his administration's efforts to fight inflation and lower rising drug costs.
Ada Briceño, chair of the Democratic Party of Orange County, told the OC Register that Ocasio-Cortez's visit is a "continuation of what we've seen... and what we've been building up [in Orange County]."

“We now see statewide elected officials stop by, like (Attorney General) Rob Bonta and (Gov.) Gavin Newsom, and the president,” Briceño told the OC Register. “It’s a continuation of people understanding Orange County is so crucial for the nation.”
