Repeat Drunk Driver Sentenced For Running Down Family In South OC
The man admitted to an alcohol-fueled crash that killed a 44-year-old woman and injured her family in Irvine.
IRVINE, CA — A repeat drunk driver who pleaded guilty to an alcohol-fueled crash that killed a 44-year-old woman and injured her family in South Orange County was sentenced to 15 years to life behind bars Monday, The Orange County Register reported.
42-year-old Kamal Akwette Attoh accepted a plea deal this year that required he admit to second-degree murder for the crash that killed Jeongmi Choi as she walked home with her family from an Irvine Park on May 16, 2018.
According to the newspaper, Attoh told responding officers that day he was driving home from his girlfriend's house. He told police that he had four beers and Xanax, but later said that he had been drinking vodka and martinis, the report said.
