Did you see the new Rogue One trailer? What is it about this new Star Wars movie spin-off that has original franchise fans swooning? [WATCH]

LAKE FOREST, CA—The newest "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" trailer released on Aug. 11 and fans haven't been able to stop talking about it since. Youtubers have reviewed the footage, fans are sharing across Facebook, and over 17 million likes show that this is a film people are desperate to see. Why?
Perhaps it's the music. Perhaps it's that they are going back to the original Death Star. Or maybe, it's that insanely large Imperial Destroyer, hovering over a mesa like a bad dream.
For people who grew up on the original Star Wars franchise—think, pre Jar Jar Binks—this film seems to go back to what George Lucas was best at. Huge sets, sweeping vistas, a battle against all odds. This film looks to have the Star Wars franchise return to the basics, with Imperial Walkers, X-wing and TIE fighters galore and ultimately that giant globe of the Death Star looming over an innocent planet.

"The world is coming undone. Imperial flags reign across the galaxy," Forest Whittaker tells the audience.
The story tells of a band of unlikely heroes on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. The story we (more or less) know from watching the original Star Wars Episode 4.
The "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" gets into that familiar territory quickly. The story, told by the Rebel Leader the round-table about the stolen Death Star plans is a familiar one for viewers of the original 1977 Star Wars film.
*Spoiler Alert* In that film, she explained the Death Star plans were stolen by a band of Bothan spies...many who died in the process. So, which of these new spies will make it? and who will be lost?
In the trailer, a larger than life Chewbacca-C-3P0 crossover character is partner to a Han Solo-ish looking pilot. There are spies with blasters, others with samurai swords and last but not least, a quick look at the eerie silhouette of Darth Vader in the background.

Filmed on location from the Maldives to Jordan, Iceland to England, "Rogue One" was Directed by Gareth Johnson (of 2014 Godzilla), the original screenplay was written by Chris Weitz, with story by John Knoll and Gary Whitta based upon characters created by George Lucas. The music, inspired by John Williams, was written by Alexandre Desplat. It stars Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso along with a cast of new and familiar faces.
