
Sales tax revenue for the first quarter of 2017 exceeded 2016 by 12.5%. The biggest gains were in Business and Industry, Fuel and Service Stations, and Restaurants and Hotels. We saw a small drop in Consumer Goods and Food and Drugs.
Total gross receipts for the first 3 quarters of our fiscal year were $11,389,293, exceeding last year when it was $10,662,387.
For Lake Forest the biggest source of sales tax revenue is Business and Industry (27%), followed by Consumer Goods (15%), Restaurants (13%), Building and Construction (13%), and Autos and Transportation (10%).

Sales per capita in Lake Forest continues to outpace California as a whole, but trail behind Orange County as a whole.
When you purchase something, or go out to eat, or fill up your car, or fill a prescription, try to keep your business in Lake Forest. Sales tax revenue is an important source of city income and is used to pay for city services. Spending at home also provides jobs locally.
