South OC Car Influencer May Have Crashed McLaren Due To Wet Road, Widow's Lawyer Says

IRVINE, CA — The widow of James Wehr, the South OC Cars and Coffee co-founder who died in a violent McLaren crash in Irvine last weekend, hired an accident lawyer to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Corey Higgins, an attorney with iAccidentLawyer.com, announced on Instagram that he represents Emma Wehr on Thursday.

Higgins said that at the time of the crash, a significant amount of water was found on the roadway.

The water created an "extremely hazardous" situation for Wehr and the other passenger in the McLaren, 22-year-old Alexis "Lexi" Kramer, of Lakeland, Florida.

"The source of that water has yet to be identified, and our firm is actively investigating how that water came to be there, how long that condition had existed, and who may ultimately bear responsibility," Higgins said.

Higgins added that they would also be examining the "crashworthiness" of the McLaren that Wehr had been driving the night of the crash.

Irvine police officers said the car was traveling at "a high rate of speed' on Culver Drive north of Deerfield Avenue at around 12:20 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 13.

According to police, the McLaren hit a curb, slammed into a tree, split in half before bursting into flames.

The estimated speed of the McLaren was not immediately known.

The crash killed 27-year-old James Wehr and Alexis "Lexi" Kramer, police said.

According to the New York Post, Kramer had flown out from her Florida home on Friday to meet Wehr, whom she had been exchanging messages with on social media.

According to The Post, the duo spent the weekend together after meeting on Instagram a month earlier.

"He talked to her every day all the time and finally got her to fly out to California to come see him," a family member told The New York Post. "She loved the car community, so it's such a tragedy that that's what ended her."

Community members also grieved the loss of Wehr, who made waves in the Orange County community by co-founding South OC Cars and Coffee — an event billed as "the world's largest weekly car show."

"South OC Cars and Coffee family. Unfortunately, we have some really heavy news to share with you all. This morning, just after midnight, we lost our darling son and brother James, in a motor accident," the car club wrote on Instagram. "We respectfully ask for privacy as a family, as we process this profound loss."

Emma Wehr took to Instagram to issue an emotional tribute to her late husband.

"I never thought the day would come that I'd have to say such a final goodbye," she wrote on Instagram. "Getting the opportunity to love you will always be the greatest blessing in my life."
