Studmuffins Rise to the Competition at El Toro Dodgeball Opener
Sophomore Liam Skelly proved the hero at Wednesday snack-time match at El Toro High.
The Studmuffins made crumbs of their competition at 's dodgeball tournament Wednesday morning.
got off to a spirited start at snack time, when sophomore Liam Skelly hung on to lead his team to victory over rivals the Elite Four. Afterward, Skelly fielded high-fives and chants of “MVP” from friends who watched the match, which took place in the lower quad.
The Studmuffins also include sophomores Ryan Roberts, Cody White and Carson Bridgman (all sophomore basketball players), as well as Simone Geller and Devan Ellison.

The team wore matching shirts that read “Stud” over a picture of a muffin.

“It’s a little scary,” said Gellar, a cheerleader. “Everybody’s around you, and the entire school is watching. But the ball’s super soft, so it doesn’t hurt.”
A record 85 teams have signed up for this year’s dodgeball tournament, a school tradition that comes with serious bragging rights, and trophies, for the winners.
On Thursday, provided there’s no rain, Dirty Mike & the Boys will take on the Thomas Kobrak Experience at snack time. Then at lunch, Don’t Ask play Snuffalupagus, followed by the Peanut Gallery versus Illyria and then Brock & Chad’s Fans take on the Peppermint Hippos.
"It's a tough loss," said Joey Colton, a sophomore member of the Elite Four. But, he added, "it's exciting to play."
