Taco Bell Announces New Vegan Crunchwrap Wednesday

The Orange County-based chain announced the restaurant's first fully vegan entrée item on the menu Wednesday.

LAKE FOREST, CA — Taco Bell announced its first fully vegan entrée item to hit the menu at select locations Wednesday.

The Orange County-based fast food company will introduce a fully vegan Crunchwrap this month, according to a Taco Bell news release.

According to the release, the Vegan Crunchwrap features seasoned vegan beef, described as "proprietary, boldly seasoned plant-based protein that has been in the works for years." The Vegan Crunchwrap is topped with two vegan sauces: blanco and nacho cheese.

Like the original Crunchwrap, its vegan counterpart will have shredded lettuce, diced tomato and a tostada shell.

“Such a large part of our fandom is vegan or vegetarian, and we’re as committed to them as they are to us and our menu,” Liz Matthews, global chief food innovation officer at Taco Bell, said in a statement.

Southern California residents will be able to try the new Crunchwrap at the Taco Bell restaurant located at 6741 Hollywood Blvd. in Hollywood.
