Teen Kidnapping Victim Thwarts Captors In Wild 405 Chase: Police

Two suspected kidnappers led police on a 70-mile chase through Los Angeles and Orange County, after their alleged victim texted for help.

IRVINE, CA — Two men led police on a chase from Santa Clarita to Irvine overnight with a teenage kidnapping victim texting for help from the back seat, according to authorities.

A 17-year-old and 24-year-old Alvin Morales allegedly held a 16-year-old girl against her will, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department. The girl had been waiting for her boyfriend at a park in Palmdale, when the two men nabbed her, police said. Her boyfriend tried to follow the car but eventually lost it. However, the terrified girl was able to text him, and police picked up the chase in Santa Clarita. The alleged kidnappers led police across multiple Southland freeways through the San Fernando Valley and the South Bay into Orange County.

Media outlets picked up the chase about 11:30 p.m. Thursday, when the Toyota was being driven erratically on the southbound Harbor (110) Freeway in Gardena, continuing onto the northbound Long Beach (710) Freeway, the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway in Signal Hill and the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway in Westminster.
