Toon Town Family Feud Lands Father In Orange County Jail

In July of 2019, a Las Vegas father was caught on camera attacking several family members in front of several children, including his own.

ANAHEIM, CA — A Las Vegas man who took part in a violent encounter with family members in Disneyland Resort's Toon Town last year is going to jail, the Orange County District Attorney's Office reported.

Avery Desmond Edwinn Robinson, 35, was sentenced last week for his involvement in a brawl. Robinson will spend 180 days in Orange County jail, and serve four years of formal probation, according to court documents.

Over the summer of 2019, Robinson was caught on viral video as he attacked several family members in front of several children, including his own. Other members of his family battled back, and reasons for Robinson's outburst and the subsequent attack of his sister, brother-in-law, and his girlfriend while at Disneyland with his family remain unknown. Viral video footage shared on social media captured the dark debacle in vivid detail.

When the fight was broken up, Disneyland Park security escorted the group out of the park, but Robinson's bad behavior did not end there, according to the OCDA and Anaheim Police.

As he exited the parking structure, he attempted to veer his vehicle toward a Disneyland employee in an attempt to hit them and was overheard threatening to kill his sister Andrea and her husband, Daman. He also was seen simulating a gun with his hand and pointing at the couple, the district attorney's office said.

Though his family did not press charges, Anaheim Police and the Orange County District Attorney's Office pursued the case to fruition.

Robinson pleaded guilty to a court offer of one felony charge of corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant and thirteen misdemeanors relating to assault, criminal threats, battery, and child abuse and endangerment. That offer was objected to by the DA's office.

In addition to formal probation and a jail sentence, Robinson was also ordered to complete a 52-week Batterer's Treatment Program containing a parenting component.
Furthermore, Robinson was ordered to pay restitution and complete 8 hours of community service.

Robinson was initially charged with five felony charges and nine misdemeanors.
Andrea Nicole Robinson, Robinson's sister, faces five misdemeanor charges, including four misdemeanor charges of battery for attacking her brother Avery, his girlfriend, and a Disneyland employee. She is also facing one count of misdemeanor assault for attacking her brother's girlfriend.

Andrea Robinson, 40, of Compton, faces a maximum of 2 ½ years in jail if convicted on all counts.

Daman Petrie, 44, of Compton, is facing one misdemeanor count of battery. Petrie, who is married to Andrea Robinson, is accused of punching Avery Robinson's girlfriend in the face during the melee.

Daman Petrie faces a maximum of six months in jail if convicted.

Several Disneyland guests attempted to intervene during the original incident, in an attempt to stop the violence. One witness picked up at least one of the young children in the group to get the child out of harm's way and putting Avery Robinson in a choke-hold.

Deputy District Attorney Elizabeth Nevers of the Family Protection Unit prosecuted this case.

"The Orange County District Attorney's Office does not tolerate domestic violence or child endangerment anywhere," OCDA Todd Spitzer said.
