LAKE FOREST, CA — Authorities released a critical incident video of a deputy-involved shooting in Lake Forest that happened after a man allegedly stabbed two of his sisters, killing one.

The incident was reported on Aug. 20, when deputies responded to reports of a stabbing at an apartment complex in the 2100 block of Osterman Road.

The video includes two recorded calls to dispatch, the first from a female neighbor who heard one of the sisters screaming for help. During the 911 call, the neighbor told dispatch that she saw a woman being chased by a male suspect before she collapsed on the stairway in front of her apartment.

The woman then left the neighbor's line of sight.

The second call was from an Amazon delivery driver who witnessed the male suspect stab the woman.

The driver provided a description of the man to authorities, according to the video.

"He looked really disheveled. I mean, there was blood all over him and blood all over her," said the delivery driver, who was not identified by name. The driver then told dispatch that he saw the suspect run behind a building in the apartment complex after stabbing the woman.

The suspect was described by the driver as a darker-skinned man in a white shirt and shorts covered in blood.

Dispatch then told deputies that the woman was in the parking lot after she received multiple stab wounds to the neck and abdomen.

Upon arriving to the apartment complex, deputies gave medical treatment to the victim while other deputies evacuated nearby apartments and positioned themselves outside the suspect's apartment, according to OCSD Sgt. Mike Woodroof.

After arriving, the victim's mother arrived to the apartment and told deputies her other daughter was still inside the apartment. She gave deputies a key to get inside, authorities said.

Body camera footage from the video shows four deputies and a K-9 outside the suspect's apartment.

The deputies announced themselves and moved to open the apartment door. Upon opening, video footage shows the suspect standing at the end of a hallway with a knife in his right hand.

Several deputies can be heard yelling at the suspect to drop the knife seconds before one deputy fires shots in the man's direction.

One deputy notified dispatch that shots were fired. Authorities then entered the apartment and yell, "Hands, let me see your hands," before the bodycam footage stops.

Deputies later found the body of a woman in her 20s with multiple stab wounds inside a bathroom in the apartment. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect was handcuffed and given life-saving measures by deputies and fire personnel before he was hospitalized and taken to Orange County Jail on suspicion of murder and attempted murder, authorities said. His name or identity was not immediately released.

No further information was immediately available.
