Want Shiny Silver? Today's Your Lucky Day!
The Jewelry Box of Lake Forest hosts special 2 Day Silver Restoration Event!

“It looks like magic, but it’s not,” says Jack Levenson of The Jewelry Box of Lake Forest. ”Sometimes the items people bring in to our Silver Restoration events are so tarnished and worn that it’s tough to tell exactly what they are. But then our Silver Restoration expert does their thing, cleaning, polishing and repairing as needed, and then you see a beautiful silver tea service, or coffee pot, or flatware - it’s really an amazing process.”
The main reason silver loses its shine over the years is tarnish, a naturally occurring chemical reaction that happens when silver comes into contact with oxygen. During the two day Silver Restoration event, experts carefully, safely remove all of the tarnish from silver hollow and flatware, restoring them to a desirably shiny state.
“The silver in our lives can be really special,” says Christine Anzell of The Jewelry Box of Lake Forest. “The silverware we got from our parents or grandparents, the serving platter for the holiday treats, the heirloom candlestick - all of these things matter. Polishing them yourself takes hours and hours - who has time for that? And if you have a yard sale treasure or thrift store find, for just a few dollars you can find out how great it can look - talk about fun!” Anzell adds that during this event, silver plate items can also be polished. The cost per item varies by the size and detail of the item; customers will be told what’s involved before any work is done.
