Ironically, the frequent political commentator did not write anything on last week’s rather important city council meeting thereby decided to share the results. The highlight of the meeting was the voting by the City council for 3 Planning Commissioner seats. 5 out of 7 applicants were present at the meeting, including myself.
The five city council members were to vote for 3 candidates. The total votes received by winning candidate are as follows:
Armando (incumbent) 5 votes

Fuentes (incumbent) 3 votes
Carter 3 votes

I received no votes, confirmed by the City. There may be comments from certain alias names on both sides of the aisle citing their reasons. However, some of the audience were shocked by the results and later expressed I was their first choice.
My observation of our Planning Commission is rather a tired entity where often authority is conveniently bounced to the city council, initiation hardly exists, and most requests hastily get approved.
What happened: In my opinion, fear of possible future competition for a City Council seat coupled with a buddy system superseded doing what’s in the best interest for Lake Forest. It also appeared the Commissioners were pre-selected.
This is what happens when you are truly unaffiliated and not on either side of the city council’s camp.
Again, not discouraged but more concerned for our city.
