• Girls' Golf: Millikan Slides Past Wilson with Moore League Win (the562.org) — Lakewood sports fans will note that Millikan's girls' golf team opened their season by defeating the Lakewood Lancers, then edged Wilson 235–238 at Recreation Park Golf Course to stay unbeaten in Moore League play. Senior Janelle Pulido led Millikan with a 40, while Wilson now prepares to host Lakewood at Recreation Park as league action continues.
   

• Stolen Mercedes Driver Arrested After Slow-Speed Chase Through South LA (time.news) — A slow-speed police pursuit Thursday night began when a white Mercedes-Benz SUV was reported stolen in the Lakewood area along the westbound 91 Freeway from Long Beach. The driver wound through South Los Angeles for nearly 40 minutes, repeatedly refusing to surrender, before CHP officers finally disabled the vehicle with a PIT maneuver on the 10 Freeway and arrested the suspect on vehicle theft and evasion charges.
   

• Brea Police arrest beauty‑supply theft suspect after $15,000 multi‑city crime spree (newsantaana.com) — Lakewood shoppers should know a woman accused of stealing more than $15,000 in beauty‑supply merchandise allegedly hit stores in Lakewood along with more than a dozen other Southern California cities before being arrested in Tarzana. Prosecutors are expected to pursue felony grand theft, organized retail theft, and burglary charges as Orange County and nearby areas respond to rising shoplifting with tougher security and coordinated enforcement.
