With a first-time starting quarterback, they're expected to lean on a strong running game and a physical, senior-led defense against tough regional competition. 
• ABC Announces Special On-Sale Liquor Licenses for Los Angeles (ca.gov) — Lakewood business owners can soon apply at the Paramount Boulevard ABC office for one of twelve new special on-sale general liquor licenses available in Los Angeles County. Applications are accepted September 14–25, 2026, with a nearly $20,000 fee and a possible virtual drawing if demand exceeds supply.
• Los Angeles street takeover acts as cover while thieves ransack liquor store (newsnationnow.com) — Deputies from the Lakewood Sheriff's Station responded after a massive street takeover in Bellflower early Saturday masked a smash-and-grab burglary that caused an estimated $30,000 loss. Officials say hundreds of cars blocked access while dozens ransacked a liquor store, and they're warning Lakewood-area residents that illegal street takeovers often bring serious crime and danger.
