Man Fatally Shot In La Presa Area Of East County

SPRING VALLEY, CA — A man was killed in a shooting near an intersection in the La Presa area of Spring Valley, authorities said Monday.

The shooting was reported about 11:15 p.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of Elkelton Boulevard, just west of state Route 125, said San Diego County sheriff's Lt. Thomas Seiver said.

Deputies responded to the scene and found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound near the intersection of Elkelton Boulevard and Crestmore Avenue, Seiver said.

The victim, whose name and age were not immediately available, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the lieutenant said.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting were under investigation.
