Barona Cultural Center & Museum Host Arrow Making Class

The Barona Cultural Center & Museum will
host an arrow-making class as part of the Ancient Spirits Speak series of
classes on Saturday March 1, 2014 from 10:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

The Kumeyaay people excelled in
traditional survival skills like bow, quiver and arrow making. The class will
explore the Kumeyaay basics of pressure knapping and arrow making. Participants
will learn knapping techniques with minerals like chert and obsidian for their
arrow points as well as use materials like mulefat, bamboo cane, and arrow weed
to construct their arrows. Proper clothing, gloves and protective eye wear are
encouraged while working with sharp materials and tools.

Admission for the arrow making class is $25
and lunch is included. The class is free to Barona Tribal Members.  To make a reservation, please call
