Barrett Fire Burns 65 Acres In Rural Area Of San Diego's East County

The blaze sparked along Cottonwood Creek near Little Tecate Peak, according to Cal Fire San Diego.

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — Firefighters have stopped the spread of a brush fire south of Barrett Junction and near Dulzura in San Diego County.

The blaze, called the Barrett Fire, sparked at about 6:45 p.m Sunday along Cottonwood Creek near Little Tecate Peak in rural East County, according to Cal Fire San Diego.

Crews worked overnight and held the fire at 65 acres, Cal Fire officials said. The fire was 25 percent contained as of Monday morning.

"Ground and air resources will continue the work today, building containment line around the fire and mopping up hot spots," officials said.

No structural damage or injuries were reported.
