Curfew Extended In La Mesa As Protests Continue Across County

LA MESA, CA — The city of La Mesa extended a citywide curfew Tuesday as protests and riots continue in San Diego County.

The curfew order will be in effect from 7 p.m. Tuesday until 5:30 a.m. Wednesday. The city also imposed a curfew Sunday and Monday nights.

"During this time frame, citizens of La Mesa are encouraged to shelter in place — in a safe environment — for their personal safety," the city said in a statement.

The city declared a local emergency on Sunday as a result of the devastating riots Saturday night and early Sunday morning in La Mesa. The City Council confirmed both the proclamation of local emergency and curfew order during an emergency meeting.
