FREE Recycling Day set for Lakeside: February 7th
People living in Lakeside and the surrounding unincorporated areas can drop off their old tires and green/yard waste for recycling.
People living in Lakeside and the surrounding areas can drop off their old tires, green/yard waste, electronics, paint, medications, batteries and other household chemicals for free on Saturday, February 7th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Waste tires stored outside can collect water and become mosquito breeding grounds. People will be able to recycle up to nine tires per vehicle at the event, which will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the corner of Mapleview and Channel Road in Lakeside. Tires must be relatively clean and be from passenger vehicles. Large truck tires and tires from businesses or commercial sources will not be accepted. A limited number of tires with rims will be accepted, please call to request preapproval for tires with rims and for loads of more than 9 tires.
EDCO will provide green/yard waste collection at the corner of Mapleview and Channel Road. Self-unload only. The following items will be accepted for free: Tree, plant and grass clippings, leaves, and scrap wood (untreated). Free mulch will also be available.

Residents may also take advantage of the County’s Free Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event located at Lindo Lake County Park, Lakeshore Drive parking lot from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Accepted items include: paint, household cleaners, pool/auto/lawn chemicals, aerosols, lighter fluid, used oil and filters, electronics, home-generated ‘sharps’, and medications. State law prohibits transport of over 15 gallons or 125 pounds at one time. No containers larger than 5-gallon buckets will be accepted. Limit 5 televisions or computer monitors per car. Items not accepted include: Business waste, ammunition, explosive or radioactive material, air conditioners or large appliances.
The event is made possible by County of San Diego Departments of Public Works, Environmental Health, and Parks and Recreation, San Diego County Sheriff, EDCO, Lakeside River Park Conservancy, Lakeside Chamber of Commerce, and CalRecycle.
