Free senior health fair

The 19th annual East County Senior Health Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday, May 11, at the La Mesa Community Center, 4975 Memorial Dr., La Mesa. Admission is free. No advance registration is necessary.

The health fair’s organizers, the East County Senior Services Providers, a coalition of community organizations and agencies serving seniors in the East County, said its health fair will feature more than 70 exhibit booths, along with free health screenings for stroke, blood pressure, balance, depression, oral cancer and body mass index. Information will be available about senior housing, home care services, personal care services, insurance, fire and disaster safety, home safety, fall prevention, health education, dental health, advance directives, nutrition services, social programs, caregiving services, educational programs, government agencies and volunteer opportunities.
