High-Speed Finale: Helix Handles Grossmont in Last Dual Track Meet

Scotties outscore the host Hillers in boys and girls varsity and JV as well under overcast skies.

In the last dual meet of the season, Helix Charter High School boys and girls teams dominated their Grossmont counterparts in running, jumping and throwing Wednesday.

The Helix varsity boys outscored the host Hillers 116-18, while the Highlander girls varsity prevailed 94-30. Same for junior varsity: Helix boys and girls defeated Grossmont 86-28 and 66-40, respectively, according to Tana Starr, Helix varsity girls coach.

The meet was conducted in cool weather under overcast skies—as rain stayed away. The scored meet ended with the 4x400 relays—with members of both teams lining the track cheering encouragement. The last race, by tradition, saw the hefty throwers run a 4x100 relay. Again cheered wildly.
