La Mesa Apartment Fire Causes Flood Damage

A small kitchen fire activated the sprinkler system at an apartment building in La Mesa, causing flood damage, authorities said.

The non-injury fire in the 8700 block of Fletcher Parkway was reported at 8:11 p.m. Tuesday, according to a Heartland fire dispatcher. Because of the sprinklers, the fire was largely out when firefighters, she said, adding that no one was displaced.

A damage estimate was pending.
