La Mesa-Spring Valley Schools Will Be Closed Tuesday, January 23, 2024

Dear LMSV Families -

As I’m sure you are aware, our community experienced widespread flooding today due to the storms and the overload of the storm drain system in south/central San Diego County. This flooding significantly impacted many of our school sites, particularly our campuses located in Spring Valley.

Be assured that all of our staff and students are safe and were well taken care of, even through this challenging day. Our district staff have responded immediately to flooding concerns at every site, and will continue to work to address these issues throughout the day/evening. However, due to the continued rain, and the extent of the flooding, we will need to close all of our schools for tomorrow, Tuesday, January 23, 2024, to ensure classrooms and campuses are clean and safe for students to return.

We realize this is an impact to your families, and apologize for the inconvenience. However, the safety of our students and staff is our highest priority. At this time, plans are to resume classes on Wednesday, January 24. Should those plans change, we will update you immediately.

Sincerely, La Mesa-Spring Valley Schools
