Learn at SDSU How to Teach English Abroad
SDSU will be offering its popular 130-hour Teaching English as a Second Language/Teaching English as a Foreign Language certificate program.
If you would like to learn how to earn money teaching English abroad, then San Diego State University has a program that is perfect for you.
SDSU will be offering its popular 130-hour Teaching English as a Second Language/Teaching English as a Foreign Language certificate program that prepares novice instructors to live and teach English overseas Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-9 p.m., from Sept. 9-Nov. 20.
“Those four weeks really changed my perspective and gave me a lot of confidence. I think that’s the main thing because I’ve never taught before. They give you everything that you need; all of the tools,” said former student Alicia Wszelaki, who completed the program and then traveled the globe teaching English.

These sessions are offered through the American Language Institute, a division of SDSU’s College of Extended Studies. Cost of the program is $2,725.
More than 150 graduates of the program have been employed in nearly 40 countries with the help of the ALI’s job placement assistance program, which combines a solid teaching foundation with hands-on practical classroom experience. Former students include:
Pablo Serrano, who has worked for the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education in a Korean public middle school. “This program provides the training and guidance to succeed working abroad. I highly recommend it to anyone who is considering teaching overseas.”
Jon Hershman, who set sail for three months and traveled the seven seas on the Coral Prince cruise liner teaching English as a foreign language. “Thanks to the knowledge and experience I gained through the program, I was able to set foot in over 10 countries and meet beautiful, extraordinarily enthusiastic friends from around the world.”
