Mount Miguel Covenant Village Art Gallery Opens
The Cavallin Gallery is part of the recently completed $19.1million Peterson Life Center

With the cutting of a ribbon, the art gallery at Mount Miguel Covenant Village formally opened. The official name is Cavallin Gallery, named after a retired railroad executive and Evangelical Covenant Church member whose goal was to open a retirement community in suburban San Diego, inspired by beautiful retirement homes in Sweden.
Located on the first floor of the newly constructed Peterson Life Center, the gallery will feature rotating exhibits displaying the work of local and resident artists. The opening exhibit featured more than a dozen oil and watercolor paintings and an oversized needlepoint panel, titled, “In God’s Hands,” all created by Marge Dean, the late wife of Mount Miguel resident Win Dean, pictured front and center and wearing a blue sweater. His wife, Jody, also in a blue sweater, is standing behind him.
Also pictured: Don Maes, facilities management director at Mount Miguel Covenant Village, cutting the ribbon; Janis Dean Cecil, Win and Marge Dean’s daughter, is to the left of Maes, with her husband, James Cecil, standing behind her, and surrounded by Mount Miguel residents.
