Pedestrian Struck, Killed While Crossing El Cajon Boulevard
The victim, a 70-year-old man, was hit by a Prius about 8:20 p.m. Tuesday, according to La Mesa police.

LA MESA, CA: A 70-year-old man struck by a car Tuesday night while attempting to cross a busy street in La Mesa has died, police said.
The victim was taken to a hospital after he was hit by an eastbound Toyota Prius on El Cajon Boulevard near Williams Avenue around 8:20 p.m. but died while undergoing surgery, La Mesa police Lt. Greg Runge said. His name was withheld pending family notification.
Eastbound lanes of the 7400 block of El Cajon Boulevard were closed from about 8:30 p.m. until 11 p.m. Tuesday because of the collision.

The driver of the Prius remained at the scene and was not suspected of drunken driving. Runge said the crash was "not being treated as a criminal investigation at this time."
