Grossmont Boys Water Polo Beats Poway to Advance to Quarterfinals
The Foothillers face No. 1-ranked Vista Friday morning at La Jolla High School for next CIF championship round
The Grossmont High boys water polo team is advancing to the quarterfinals of the CIF championships after beating Poway Wednesday afternoon.
Hiller Clay Wilson led Grossmont to a 12-10 win at the Titan's pool in the first round of the championships. The Foothillers will face off against No. 1 ranked Vista at 9:30 a.m. Friday at La Jolla High School.
With less than a minute to play, Grossmont scored to give itself a two-point lead and then secured the ball until the clock ran out.

Wilson scored seven points. Hillers scoring one point apiece were Charlie Smith, Julian Reisch, Bobby Weiss, Patrick Sichel and Nick Gagnon. Goalie Michael Leimbach helped his team by making numerous blocks.
Scorers for the Poway Titan's were John Koning with four, Tommy Brunasky, three; Jaden Ceballos with two; and Macon Hamson with one.
