Real Estate Expert Max Zaker: Who Holds Power in the Housing Market?

Max Zaker, 2022 Pacific Southwest Association of Realtors President: Today's Market is More Balanced, Appealing to Both Sellers and Buyers

The Pacific Southwest Association of Realtors (PSAR) reports that today’s housing market appeals to both sellers and buyers, rather than one group holding all the power.

According to Max Zaker, 2022 PSAR president, “A while ago, it was common for 20 offers or more on a single house for sale and sellers held all the power. Now, it’s more of an even, balanced housing market where buyers can take a bit more time.”

Zaker doesn’t expect home prices to plunge even though high mortgage rates have caused some buyers to hit the pause button.

“As demand decreases, I believe inventory will increase, which will encourage more home shoppers to become homebuyers,” he said.
