Running for Home: Grossmont Meets Granite Hills in Cross Country

Foothillers fall to Eagles in varsity but prevail in junior varsity in series of races at Harry Griffen Park.

Before Homecoming came home running—at Harry Griffen Park. Grossmont High School hosted a cross country meet Friday afternoon with Granite Hills of east El Cajon. The Hillers lost in the varsity team race but won junior varsity in the second league matchup of the season. In the boys varsity race, Foothiller Michael Bradley took second, running the 5,000-meter (3.1-mile) course in  17 minutes, 2 seconds. Adam Omahen was fourth in 17:51. In girls varsity, Grossmont's Kaytlan Camarero was second over 4,000 meters (2.48 miles) in 15:11, and Kori Gilley was fifth in 15:35. In junior varsity, the Hillers swept first, second and third with Kevin Conner in 14:33; Ben Guo in 14:35 and Jeff Johnson in 14:34. In junior varsity girls, Hiller Gabby Miller ran 18:05.
