San Diego County Sheriff's Department: SAR K-9 And Dive Team Training - Cancelled

Please be informed a collaborative training between Sheriff's Search and Rescue (SAR) K-9 and Dive Units scheduled for Saturday, October 16 in La Mesa has been cancelled. 

SAR was activated just before 10:00 p.m. on Friday, October 15 to help search for a missing person at-risk in Vista. Emergency response is our priority. 

We appreciate the media interest on this training. We will issue another news release when a new date has been set for the training.

In the meantime, be aware of increased law enforcement activity around the Sprinter Transit Center in Vista located at 240 N. Santa Fe Road. Volunteers with Sheriff's Search and Rescue (SAR) are looking for 75-year-old Angel Barron.

Mr. Barron walked away from his home in the 400 block of N. Citrus Avenue in Vista in the afternoon of October 15. He is a Hispanic man with gray hair. He stands approximately 5'10" tall and weighs around 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue flannel shirt, blue jeans, brown boots and a bright orange baseball cap. 

His family says Mr. Barron is a person living with dementia and other health conditions requiring medication. He could have hitched a ride or taken a bus to go to San Ysidro. If you see him, call the Sheriff's Department at (858) 565-5200.
