Scotties Prevail in Second Overtime, Defeat Hillers 58-51 in Final Game
Host Grossmont girls battled Helix through four regulation periods and two 4-minute overtimes.
In a tight game with much intensity that took two overtime periods to decide, it was appropriate that the Helix pair of Shirah Hancock and Debbi Cardenas both scored 17 points to lead the Scotties to victory over host Grossmont, 58-51. The Highlanders also were helped by Sarah Meredith (13 points), Hayley Singer (6) and Ashley Smith (2). On Senior Night for the girls—and the last regular-season game for both teams—Danielle Dahle led Grossmont scorers with 18 points, followed by Katarina Schweitzer (12) and Danielle Davis (10). Carly Lopez and Megan Reddecliff each had 2 points. Patrick Tabor’s Helix squad boosted its league record to 5-5, while Jeff Bickford’s Hillers fell to 4-6.
