Stars, Guiding Lights and New Beginnings: Epiphany Sunday at UCCLM

“In the beginning was the Word.”  (John 1:1)

However understood, the message of the Evangelist is
one of life, hope and new beginnings.

As is that of Epiphany, the church’s commemoration of
the Magi’s star-led journey to find and worship an infant king.

Epiphany:  a new
year…a new opportunity to grow…a new beginning.

Personal Epiphany stars are a much loved tradition at
the United Church of Christ of La Mesa (UCCLM).
Provided by the church, each is inscribed with a single word
(“Gratitude,” for example), a word to ponder in the year to come, a guiding
light.  How will we – and God – use that
word in our lives?  Where will it lead
us?

We invite you to share this tradition.  Worship with us on Epiphany Sunday, January
5, 2014 (8:30 and 10:00am) – claim your star, your “new beginning.”

You’ll find us at 5940 Kelton Avenue, La Mesa, CA
91942 (619-464-1519).

We’re an Open and Affirming congregation – ALL are
welcome!
