Vanessa Cishugi Crowned Homecoming Queen at Grossmont High School
Omar Lopez, who helped Hillers beat Monte Vista, was named Homecoming king at later dance.
The balloons floated out of a box at halftime, signifying the selection of another Homecoming queen at Grossmont High School. This year, the Associated Student Body elected Vanessa Cishugi, who was accompanied by her mother, Jacqueline Ntumba. Other queen candidates introduced Friday night were Tianna Duenas, Teresa Lima, Gabriella Corral and Grace Crummett.
Later, at the Homecoming Dance, school commissioner of spirit and football linebacker Omar Lopez was unveiled as Homecoming king. Other candidates were Marcus Phillips, Grey Owen, Ryan Gabriel Hoppe and Danny Villanueva. This year's Homecoming theme was Happiest Place on Earth, a salute to a theme park up the road.
