2 Arrests Following Armed Robbery In Lafayette
A license plate reader in another town tripped-up the suspects.

LAMORINDA, CA — An armed robber held up employees at the BevMo store on Mt. Diablo Boulevard in Lafayette on Feb. 1, according to Lafayette Police. There were no injuries reported.
The accused robber and a second person were arrested the following day thanks to witness statements, surveillance cameras, police work, and a license plate reader in Piedmont.
The robbery happened around 10 a.m. Lafayette Police officers got to the store in less than a minute after the call was made. They began searching for the male suspect. At the station, Lafayette PD staff used cameras in the area to locate the suspect who was getting into his parked vehicle.

The staff provided a detailed description of the vehicle to law enforcement agencies in the Lamorinda area, but the vehicle wasn't found.
The license plate was entered into regional law enforcement agency databases.

The next day, a Piedmont Police Officer was alerted that the suspect’s vehicle was in the area when a license plate reader picked it up.
The vehicle, occupied by two people, was quickly located.
The suspect from the armed robbery in Lafayette was identified as one of the individuals, and two firearms believed to be used in the robbery were recovered.
The accused armed robber was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility, and the other passenger was arrested by Piedmont Police for unrelated crimes.
